ABSTRACT:
Background: Saliva, as a «mirror of the body,» reflects systemic and local pathological changes through its molecular composition. Methods and Results: This review synthesizes 180+ studies on salivary biomarkers for diabetes (α-amylase, cortisol), oral cancer (IL-8, MMP-9), and cardiovascular diseases (C-reactive protein, troponin). Conclusion: Salivary diagnostics offer cost-effective, patient-friendly alternatives to blood tests but require standardization for clinical adoption.
