ABSTRACT:

Background: Cervical cancer remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among women globally, particularly in low-resource settings. Persistent infection with high-risk HPV strains is the primary etiological factor, but preventable through vaccination and early detection. Methods and Results: This review synthesizes current evidence on cervical cancer prevention, including HPV vaccination programs, screening methods (Pap smear, HPV DNA testing, visual inspection), and emerging technologies. We highlight advancements in diagnostic accuracy, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness.
Conclusion: Integrating vaccination, scalable screening, and public health education can eliminate cervical cancer as a public health threat. Challenges in equity, infrastructure, and stigma must be addressed to achieve global targets.
