ABSTRACT:
Antibiotic prophylaxis has long been a critical component in preventing infections in various surgical fields, including ambulatory dental surgery. This article provides an in-depth review of the significance, guidelines, and contemporary advancements in antibiotic prophylaxis in ambulatory dental surgeries. It explores the indications for prophylaxis, the choice of antibiotics, timing, and potential risks of overuse, as well as emerging resistance concerns. By analyzing current evidence, this work aims to shed light on best practices for preventing post-surgical infections and ensuring optimal patient outcomes in outpatient dental procedures.
