ABSTRACT:
Background: Sepsis remains a leading cause of mortality in critical care, necessitating reliable biomarkers for early diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic monitoring. Methods and Results: This review evaluates current and emerging biomarkers, including procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and novel molecular markers, with evidence from clinical trials and meta-analyses. Conclusion: Integration of multi-marker panels and point-of-care technologies shows promise, though challenges in specificity and standardization persist.
